The Italian Alpini Choir originated in the Northern Italian Alps as a military choir assigned with the Alpini Troops.
Today the choir is made up of individuals from all parts of Italy and Canada. The choir holds practices at both the Italian Centennial Hall and the DaVinci Centre and is open to anyone interested in singing in Italian. Our current song selection features songs from all parts of Italy. The choir performs at a variety of community events, and has perform at The Ironworld Centre in Minnesota, USA.

Our Maestro is Mr. Ernie Slongo, and the music is by accompanist Mr. John Scaffeo, the second best accordian player in the whole world . . . well almost !
Past conductors include Silvio Tessolin, Mr. Phil Cotten, and Raymond Colosimo.

Three members of the Alpini Choir take a break - from the singing to enjoy a delicious plate of, you guessed it, spaghetti and meatballs, the dish that makes the Italian Hall famous. In the picture, Peppina Rassat, (one of the Italian Halls famous cooks), Maria Michelussi, and Leo Marson.
John and Wilma Marchesi are seen making Italian Crostoli as part of a fund raising event. Members of the choir, gather at the DaVinci Centre or the Italian Society of Port Arhur , to make crostolio and Italian deep fried pastry. John tells Marchesi tells me that in the first year of the choir, Al Waxman of " King of Kengsinton" introduced the choir, under the directorship of Mr. Silvio Tessolin at the Fort William Gardens back in 1973. Also in the picture from left to right, are Ricardo Lazzari, Cecil Mechis, Pasquale Scarcello, and Caesar Squitti.
