"Now the serpent was more crafty
than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to
the woman, "Did God say, "You shall not eat from any tree in
the Garden?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the
fruit of the trees in the garden; but God said, "You shall not eat
of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it,
or you shall die." But the serpent said to the woman, "You will
not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened,
and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman
saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes,
and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit
and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he
ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked;
and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.

**According to the Bible, Adam and Eve
were deceived by Satan, who tempted them to take "a fruit,""an
apple" from the infinite tree of knowledge. By taking of "this
fruit" they believed they would be "like" God. They were
deceived to believe that to be "like" God, meant, in the infinite
sense, when in fact they would be "like" God, in a limited sense.
The word "like" has two polar
extremes; an oxymoron of sorts. Their death, was of course , a spiritual
one; as they, ( and we), lost touch with God.
The fruit, or "the apple,"
as a metaphor, can be equated to the half-truth, (one truth from the infinite
truths that only God would know in their totality that comprises total
knowledge).
It is also interesting to note that Adam
and Eve after eating from "the tree" their eyes "were opened
to Good and Evil, because they opened the door to sin; they had broken
the law of God. To state that "their eyes were opened" suggest
that perhaps Adam and Eve were able "to see" by some other means.
Obviously, "to see" did not relate to the physical sense of perception.
Adam and Eve had to hide themselves, not so much from their physical being
but from their spritual sins. Mankind had lost its contact with God and
perhaps another ability to perceive.
In Adam & Eve, humanity
was deceived in many ways, and we still are.
Fundamentally, in ourarrogance, we believe that we do know "The Truth", about
many subjects, and look to mankind for Truths instead of looking to God
for The Truth. Human philosophy is flawed with many half-truths. Human
knowledge is full truths, half-truths disguised as The Truth.
Wisdom comes from God.
Of importance is the fact that the prevailing
definition of a "half-truth" is incorrect, as is the prevailing
definition of "truth" and "lie." Half-truths are true
statements that ignore other truths to create a deceptive lie. Truth, if
it is a half-truth is a lie; and a lie can be a truth if it is a half-truth.
Unrecognized paradoxes called anti-truths. There is a difference between
truth, a truth, the truth we know and The Truth (in the infinite capacity).
Half-truths, are truths, that are lies, (a lie of ommision). The statement
while being totally true, is a lie; a newly discovered paradox.
